DIY Eyebrow Lamination....did it work?

I have to thank my mother...even in the peak of the 90s pencil thin brows, she shaped my brows according to what suited my face and not what was trendy. So, while sparse brows are not my concern, I do have hairs that go every which way and create gaps and empty spaces. I have tried all sorts of eyebrow gels and even gone as far as to use eyelash glue to try and tame my brow hairs but by the end of the day, they seem to have been in an argument and are going their separate way.

Enter, eyebrow lamination! Now, typically before I DIY a treatment at home, I like to get it done professionally. However, the images that pop up when you search "eyebrow lamination" remind me of old-school Grandpa brows! No offense to anyone who enjoys the feathered look but it does not suit me and I was a bit worried that a salon would try to give me this trendy shape and I would hate it.

So, I got a kit from Amazon, watched a few videos on Youtube and tried it on myself! The process was easy enough but definitely make sure you are familiar with the instructions since it goes pretty quick and that you have all your supplies on hand so you aren't running to get plastic wrap like yours truly. The longest part of the process was combing the hairs into the exact shape I wanted since I did not want to perm the hair into a shape that I would regret later. But, I think the results speak for themselves, how about you?

Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started
  1. Shower first! This is because, like a perm, you should avoid getting them wet after the treatment. Unfortunately, I did not remember this so my first treatment had a few stubborn hairs that did not maintain their shape.
  2. Don't overthink it. As I mentioned, the longest part was me being meticulous about combing the hairs in the exact place. Turns out it isn't like superglue and the hairs are still soft and can move...instead the hairs just point in whatever general direction you comb them in.
  3. Tint them at another time. I tried to tint my eyebrows because I assumed it would tint the skin and I could bring them a little closer together. However, I forgot you have to wash off the tint...off eyebrows which are supposed to stay dry...so yeah, just pick another day to tint them if you wish to do that.
Overall, it was an easy process that lasts a few months and is cheap to do it at home. If you have sensitive skin, definitely patch test but I would recommend this procedure for taming unruly brows!

  1. Brow Lamination also called brow sculpt or brow lift, is essentially a perm for your eyebrows.
