Managing Self Care when Busy

Ah yes, September...for many of us this means back-to-school, end of summer holidays and crazy routines as we get adjusted to new schedules. It may mean putting yourself on the back burner but remember, pushing the pause button and taking care of yourself is just as important as helping others! Here are a few ways to inject Ahh...into the AHHH! of your daily life (too corny?)

1. Sheet Mask it up

When I first got into Korean skincare, I would go through sheet masks like q-tips...I thought it was an essential part of getting slowly, hydrated skin. And don't get me wrong, it feels fantastic but I soon learned it was not necessary for my skin. However, it does feel amazing, especially when paired with a jade roller. I am not sure if the jade roller does anything but it feels good as it smoothes out any bumps on the sheet mask and massages my face gently. So, if you are answering emails or making last minute calendar updates, pop one on (bonus points if you chill it in the fridge for a bit!) and soak in all the hydration. Also, don't forget to use the remaining essence in the bag on your neck and décolletage. Remember, skincare extends down to your chest and elbow as well!

2. Cozy socks or slippers

This may seem pretty basic but having soft socks or slippers not only feel great but keep your heels from cracking and being dry. I find that when I forget this step, I have to be more diligent about lotion and my BabyFoot routine.

3. Light a candle

The Danes are onto something with this whole Hygge concept and nothing is cozier than the flickering warm glow of a candle. Pick a few in your favorite scent, I like having specific smells for specific areas (a kitchen with warm cinnamon buns anyone??) which help a homemaker vibe that I just can't emulate at that moment.

4. Wear silk pajamas

I specifically bought a cheap, washable silk robe to live out my rich-wife-standing-on-a-marble-staircase vibe. Does it matter that there are holes in the pocket or mysterious, stubborn stains? Nope! Because it feels lux and instantly helps me relax when I put it on.

Oh yes, Jeeves...I do need you to schedule my fancy manicure, thank you!

There are plenty of other ways to easily infuse self-care into your busy schedule if you just look at your day and see where opportunities lie to put yourself just a little bit higher on your priorities. This isn't selfish as it allows you to recharge and be your best version for yourself and others!
