Permanent Wrinkles under the eyes? Say hi to Dennie Morgan
If you've ever marveled at the smooth under-eye areas in magazines and media, you are not alone. As we age, fine lines and wrinkles are common but what about wrinkles that are always under the eyes? I'm talking about wrinkles that you may have had even as a child!
Look at this cutie! Yes, those wrinkles may remain into adulthood
These wrinkles may also be be accompanied by dark circles and dry skin. Basically, these are a result of allergies or eczema issues you may have had as a child. Rubbing the skin under the eyes from itching or dryness can also further exacerbate the issues. Nonetheless, identifying the problem is your first step! Now, here are some steps you can take to lessen their appearance:
Allergy shiner with less prominent lines underneath
1. First and foremost, do get tested for allergies. Identifying your triggers can help you manage your exposure. In my case, it was childhood asthma which was managed on its own as an adult. However, I did notice that taking Zyrtec was the most effective at minimizing the appearance of the dark circles. It did no improve it completely but it was a step.
2. Vitamin K cream such as Arnica or other bruising cream can help address the pooling of blood underneath the skin which can worsen the appearance of dark circles. However, if your circle are a result of thin skin or discoloration, this will likely not have any impact.
3. Hydration is a simply yet highly effective way to reduce lines under the skin. I love Neutrogeona Hydroboost eye cream because its cheap and the ingredients are effective. It is a lightweight formula making it ideal for use under makeup and reduces the chances of milia developing.
5. Peter Thomas Roth Instant FirmX eye cream is an amazing eye cream that actually works to tighten skin temporarily. The key ingredient, sodium silicate, dries out your skin and contracts it in the process so it looks like your skin is smooth. However, it does leave a white film and once it is washed off, the effect is gone. It is a good option for a no-makeup day as you cannot layer any concealer on top of this.
In the end, there are a few non-medical interventions you can do but as every other decision, this is completely optional! So go forth, rock those eye bags or not...the choice is yours!
